Teen Talent USA - Support Our Youth

Support Our Youth At International Teen Talent
From 3-7 August 2015, thousands of young people from different states in America and some parts of the world, will descend upon Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee to take part in the Church of God’s International Teen Talent Competition.

The Teen Talent program includes the following divisions: Art, Bible, Creative Writing, Drama, Music and Multi-Media. The Teen talent program has a threefold objective:

  • To discover talent
  • To develop talent
  • To dedicate talent

The Church of God’s Youth and Discipleship Department sees the Teen Talent program as “more than a competitive activity to determine who rates first and second; it is a ministry of love and guidance to Church of God youth. Competition, however, is a vital factor in the program. Competition, coupled with love and guidance, is a strong force in challenging youth to reach their full potential and to express themselves constructively for the glory of God.”

Through this ministry of healthy competition, young people will uncover, develop and sharpen their skills which will groom them for ministry. Teen Talent provides young people with opportunities to broaden their life experiences, cultivate qualities of character and make friendships with other young people around the world.

Since 2012, the Full Gospel Church of God in Southern Africa’s youth has been invited to be a part of this awesome event.

In 2012 the Full Gospel Church of God in Southern Africa hosted their first National Teen Talent Competition in Durban. The National finals saw the winners from Regional Competitions in 3 categories: Solo Singing, Bible Quiz and Group Dance exhibit their talents for the Glory of God. We were extremely proud when the Bethany Fellowship Church dancers, Keanu Lackay and Johnson Kagaba, representing the Peninsular Region were crowned winners in the dance category.

The winners in each category qualified to represent the Full Gospel Church of God in Southern Africa for the very first time at the Church of God’s International Teen Talent in America.

At the International Teen Fest our dancers did us proud once again when Keanu and Amber September (Amber replaced Johnson who was unable to get the required travel documents) placed second in the Group Pantomime category.

In July 2014 the Full Gospel Church of God in Southern Africa hosted their second National Teen Talent Competition in Durban. This time, saw the winners from Regional Competitions in 6 categories: Solo Singing, Bible Quiz, Group Dance, Solo Drums, Solo Guitar and Solo Keyboard compete for the Glory of God.

Our Region, (Peninsular Region) participants were crowned winners in two of the categories - Keanu Lackay and Yael Festus (from Bethany Fellowship Church) won the Group Dance category, while Thusia Pienaar (from Belmont Worship Tabernacle) won the Solo Singing category.

From 3-7 August 2015 the winners in the Full Gospel Church of God SA have the opportunity to participate in the Church of God's International Teen Talent in Cleveland, Tennessee, USA. This is an awesome opportunity for our young people to showcase their God-given talent, and be a part of an event that will add so much richness to their lives. But this is more than a competition, but also an opportunity for our young people to minister God's Word through the arts into the lives of a larger audience.
We trust that you would partner with us in this venture, and make this opportunity a reality for them by contributing financially to the cost of their flight and stay in the USA. Sow a seed into our young people that would yield a rich harvest.
